What's AMD doing on sep. 12th?

It must hurt a little bit, considering Intel adopted the "K" moniker as a nod to AMD's BE in the first place...

That being said, I always thought "Black Edition" was a silly name. I like the K designation better.

A new comic?

Do you mean the band?
😱

That was my first reporting job for a magazine in Dublin - after Chess editor
:\

I wonder what it is...but, even if we never learn what AMD is really up to in three days, quality LOLs were had.

This is almost as bad as the stupid 'dragon' platform crap they advertised a few years ago. It was like their marketing team was 3 kids who all live in their parents basement and talk about cool ninja sword replicas and what dragon is the best.

Sure, I love dragons as much as the next guy. I wouldn't even mind a cool dragon picture on my MB box, but as a 'platform' it was silly and amateur.

A Black series APU would be interesting, but in the end, AMD just needs to build a new core, and I'm honestly losing any faith in Bulldozer I actually had. More cores doesn't fix all their problems, and AMD needs to get that through their heads. I'm still hoping that their module architecture actually goes beyond the K8 derived architecture that still continues to exist.

A 3.0 GHz quad-core APU with 640+ VLIW4 SPs and perhaps tri-channel memory would be intriguing though, but way too encroaching on AMDs medium end graphics.

Announcing their next NEXT gen cpu, Bulls**t. It will be up to eleventy billion percent faster than bulldozer, and it will absolutely crush anything that intel has to offer in 2011. Unfortunately, it won't be available until 2015 at the earliest...

It is a Fusion event, so my money is on 1) Unlocked Llano 2) Trinity 3) BD + Radeon 7xxx series Just announcing the FX-series doesn't make sense to me, but I am not in this business so... 😀 I think it'd be funny if they announced a launch date for Trinity tomorrow... Sad funny, not funny funny...

I bet it's gonna be similar to one of those "major announcements" politicians make where they get people hyped up but all they say is that they'll have an announcement at a later date.

Maybe that's the plan, launch K-versions of Llano now as the plan B, cancel Zambezi, pull in the launch date for Trinity.

Better make that 3015 to account for the inevitable delays 😉

they're going to announce a delayed Q12012 launch to up clock frequencies to 5ghz to compete with a 2600K

D: I hope not.

With all the Q3/4 AAA gaming titles coming out this year not having your new desktop/enthusiast product there for the hordes building new PC's is missing an excellent opportunity to get lock-in. Esp. given that current Z68 boards might need to be RMA'd to have bios forcibly flash to allow an upgrade path to Ivy Bridge...

EDIT: Flash retail availability of HD7XXX in October would be nice....

Better not be just re-announcing unlocked Llanos. Fingers crossed it's related to next gen Radeon or BD.

Let me guess - the secret that they will announce at IDF will be that they will announce for the forthcoming of announcement of BD sometime next month.

Is this the historic event ? >> AMD Bulldozer atinge 8.43 Ghz (video >> Maximum Speed | AMD FX Processor Takes Guinness World Record) a record which was previously held by Netburst single core Celeron (at 8.3GHz), and for the first time an AMD entry in top clock charts? 😀

Edit: It does seem that only 2 "cores" (or 1 "module") is used for this run. :hmm:

So thats over 1Ghz higher than a 990X in LN2, so can we assume it will OC just as much higher percentage wise on air?

Anyone knows what SB does under LN2?
