You are a real man the day you listen to what you want and let the world know about it. Until then you are a wimp pretending to be macho.

Note: this only applies to men.

Most of my "friends" wouldn't know what band I was talking about so it's pointless to discuss music with them
Of the "friends" I have that WOULD know, they're music snobs and discussing music with them sucks.

I was excited about the "Franz Ferdinand" album and asked one of the snobs what he thought about it... his response? "Yeah, they're pretty popular, but you know their sound is so intentional." I swear, what does that even MEAN? Like, a band can only be good by accident? Fvck.. Moron...

I wanna be the very best,

To catch them is my real test,
To train them is my cause.

Searching far and wide.
Teach Pokemon to understand,
The power that's inside.
Pokemon, gotta catch 'em all..............

The fact that I know that is quite sad...:frown:

a lot of ppl will 'intentionally' use one of those words that appear 'deep' but really are just random words chosen to make it appear that they actually thought about what they just said

Yes, but this guy is actually pretty intelligent. I'm certain he understands the meaning of what he said and honestly feels it's true. He's a promoter in the local scene, so he spends a lot of time listening to music and critically assesing it. In the end, to me, this opinion is demonstrative of his extreme egocentrism. He's placing himself as a critic aboce what he considers to be "the average listenener", Now if he said he didn't like the band, for whatever reason, that would be fine. But to dismiss it as poor music because you feel it's not furthering the art is REALLY arrogant. The guy is a tool, he's dating my wife's identical twin, she's pretty close to me, but this guy and his friends are just arrogant hipsters, who think they know what good is for everyone... /rant

Haha, that's great. I admit that I can get annoyed about certain bands that are too obvious or pretentious (Creed, for example), but I don't think it's quite the same thing. ;)

I'm not ashamed of any of the music that I listen to. Even the Yanni and the Avril Lavigne.

Telephone Operator from Dance Dance Revolution.
Read OP incorrectly, neglect this post. I read it as "Whats a song you wouldnt tell friends to listen to"

i don't think it's the same to every men. to me, it's not about macho-ness, or any other stereotypical male quality. it's about the quality of music (from my point of view, of course).

for instance, i would be a little bit embarrassed if my friends knew that i was listening to house music, or thrash music, because i feel those kinds of musics don't have any musical quality in them, and i shouldn't get caught listening to them (which i don't have to worry about, because that never happened).
