Whats a safe/cheap convertable or lux car under 15K?

I'm gonna be doing some traveling back and forth this summer. I was original going to get a jeep, but I already have an SUV and would like to save $$ on gas where I can. What older model convertibles or luxury cards would you recommend under 15K. I'm really just looking for a comfortable ride. I'll be traveling at least 2-3 hours everyday.

Camry's are know for their mushy comfortable rides or Buicks can be had cheaply and get surprisingly good HW mileage

I don't think those two would fit well to OP's requirement: comfortable ride

As much I as hate the car, the Chrysler Sebring would probably be the most comfortable convertible for highway cruising. That or the Toyota Solara convertible. I'm assuming that when you mean comfortable, you want a smooth ride. The S2000 and G35 have much firmer suspensions which many consider "uncomfortable" although I personally find them too soft and cars like the Camry are just downright sickening for me to drive.

2004 to 2006 Saab 2.0T convertible. 31mpg hwy.

Only convertible to be rated as a top safety pick by IIHSA (better than BMW & Audi in terms of safety)

Mustang V6 is another good choice. You should be able to get a 2006 - 2007 model under $15K now too.

Saab, Mustang, and maybe a Pontiac Soltice.

There is also the Pontiac G6 hardtop Convertable. But not sure about price as they seem to stay high the last time I looked.

The G35 sedan is plenty comfortable.

I think somebody missed the convertible part of the post.

If you want long distance cruising, I vote Saab 9-5. Dirt cheap, reliable, and an easy 30mpg.

Are Saabs known for reliability? I've never heard them spoken about along the lines of Toyota or Honda, but I just don't hear much about Saab at all.

reading comprehension FTW

So priority is comfortable, then luxury 'Buick qualifies on both' or convertable, from the title, he also wants safe and cheap 'Camry' which also offers a soft quiet ride.
point being you don't have to be in luxury land to get a good car

I don't know anyting about convertables so I didn't offer up an opinion, I was in a Miata in 92 once.

I owned a 2002 Chrysler Sebring convertible for almost four years. I drove it from 45,000 to 118,000 miles. It was comfortable and pleasant to drive. Mine had the 2.7 liter V6 and while I know lots of people have had oil sludge problems with that engine, I never did. In face at 118,000 miles, it didn't burn any oil and ran like a top. I liked the exhaust note when the top was down. I put $1000 into new struts and a tie rod end at 110,000 miles, and I had to put $1000 into a transmission problem around 80,000 miles, but other than that it was pretty trouble free.

These cars have no resale value at all. I think that you'd have a hard time finding one for $15k. They all seem to be cheaper than that. Even one year old Sebrings seem to be around $15k.

I can't say that I recommend the car just because of the oil sludge problem that some people have, but if you find a good one, it will be a pretty good car for you for a while.

I've been watching craigslist for the past couple of days. I've seen some good deals on Lexus Es300s for <10K and LS430 <15K. The sad thing is that most of the owners decided to pimp their rides.

I'm waiting for an older person to sell, who drives little and garages most of the year.

If you want cheap luxury, you could always do what I did and buy a Lincoln Town Car.

Lots of hate on these boards for old mannishness, and ludicrously soft ride, but both of these things make the big lincoln a great cruiser.

If you take care of them, they will also last forever. I've got a 1997, last year before they went to the new body style. Great car, I've had it for around 3 years and I'd buy it all over again.
