What's a Quadro?

a quadro is nvidia's workstation card. a quadro is similar to a geforce and a quadro 2 is similar to a geforce 2. the quadro has much higher performance in non game 3d-apps, but is incredibly expensicve. unless you professionally work with 3d graphics and photoshop and such, it is hard to justify.however, some geforce 2 and even geforce 2 mx boards can be hardware hacked to be detected as quadros. put in a search on geforce 2 to quadro2 hack and you'll be able to find several pages. i have not yet attempted the hack, but i plan to eventually with a g2 mx. $100 card to $1000 card is an acceptable risk to me, but might not be to you.

basically, if your just a gamer or normal user and not a graphics professional, you can't justify the cost of a real quadro.

or maybe i'm just dumb

It's basically a Geforce card w/extra features and costs a lot more money, unless you just do the mod to your Geforce(256, GTS, MX, Pro, or Ultra) card. I have modded my 32mb Geforce 2 GTS card(Elsa Gladiac) to become a 32mb Nvidia Quadro 2 Pro card(Elsa Gloria III). Here is a page that lists the differences between the regular Geforce cards and the Quadro versions.

I don't know about that. I was just driving my friends S4. NICE CAR! 2.8 L, 30 Valve, twin turbo, 6 speed, Quattro. Friggin rocket!!

I don't know about Photoshop, but the Quadro works great for CAD stuff like Pro/Engineer, Solid Works, and AutoCAD for example. The drivers are specially optimized for these professional applications.

Also, the Quadro might not be faster since you can tolerate slight graphical errors in games as a sacrifice for increased speed, but for CAD work you need more accuracy and you can't tolerate graphical errors.

I'm pretty sure the Quadro doesn't do anything better than the Geforce when using 2d apps like photoshop. Only helps with 3d apps like 3D Studio Max.
