What's a p*ker? *=i

So I watched Snatch the other day and thanks to their Irish/English accents I had trouble understanding them. Then they go around calling the guys who live in the trailer park "p*kers". What are they and why do they love caravans?

Urbandictionary got me this:

Settlers headed west, "Pikes Peak or Bust", inexperienced people out of thier element. Same as greenhorn or pilgrim.

"piker" is not a banned word. We might know WTF you were talking about if you didn't make the title a pain in the ass to read.

And it might only be offending to gypsies and I don't think we have any on AT. 😛

Are we so politically correct that we're afraid of offending gypsies now?

No offense. I think that people play an anti-PC trump card when they are embarassed by their own preconceptions and biggotry. Not that this is what you're doing CPA, just that people do it.

The Roma do not like being called gypsies for very good reasons...

Quote from this good article.
"Identifying an ethnic group, however, is not always an easy task, and such identification can be fraught with problems. In particular, the intentions of the person doing the identification need to be examined."

Calling gypsies "Roma" is as grammatically correct as calling Germans Deutsch.
But it is generally accepted, so it's all right.
