There really was a guy named Nef who posted the same post 10 times in a row to up his post count about a year ago. Endymion posted that from then on, he was going to use "nef" instead of retard. It's now grown into ATOT slang.

asked the same question when i was accused of neffing for ranting against cg.com. the answer given me was that, "once upon a time, long ago, there was a user with the name nef or something like that, that repeated a login message enough times in order to move up the pecking order. gold,platinum, whatever. so, useless repetition of posts has become to called "neffing". or so i was told. and so now the totally hipcooldudes know the answer and we marginal types dont.
