Also, I like the idea of 151 with no flame guard and throat open, mmmmhhhh. Also, everclear straight up is pretty manly.

Ingredients:
1/2 oz Bacardi 151 rum
1/2 oz Goldschlager cinnamon schnapps
1/2 oz Jagermeister herbal liqueur

All you need is two shots and u'll be nicely fvcked :beer:

I thought liquid cocaine was just goldschlager and jager? No 151.

I thought it was 151 an jager, but according to Drinks Mixer the above is correct

If I'm looking to take the edge off, I'd say a couple single malt scotch on the rocks.
If I'm looking ot unwind, I'd ask for a sapphire martini, three olives, a little dry a little dirty.

what's motivated this question?

my company is opening up a new office in a few months, and I'll probably be relocating to go there.

so I'm making my list of priorities for what to look for in my new apartment, and near the top of my list was "bar in walking distance." and now I've got this image in my head... I get home from a hard day of work, walk down the street to my local bar, and I'm sitting by myself relaxing in the bar, maybe reading a newspaper, and I couldn't picture in my mind what I'd be drinking while there :)

I had a Grey Goose Vodka martini a week ago. I don't know if it is a "manly drink" but two or three of those would definitely put one on an Drunken Odyssey for four hours or so.

No. If the drink puts you in a drunken rage, then it's maybe a man's drink. If you describe your drunken state by Odyssey, then watch a chick flick and curl up next to your sweetheart, girly man.

Gin + Tonic? If I saw a 'man' drinking G+T, I'd assume he was homosexual.

There's nothing wrong with Gin and Tonic. If you saw a man drinking anything, you probby saw it at a gay bar. Though, Gin and Tonics aren't the best example of a man's drink, they definitely don't label the drinker as a homo.

Old Salty Dog. (1/2 grapefruit juice, 1/2 vodka)
Silk Panties (1/2 vodka, 1/2 peach schnapps)

For the first one, that drink is not horrible.. but the name shames pirates. The second, it has schnapps, thus violating the 'man's drink' rule.

Irish Carbomb, followed by a nice Maker's and Coke.

Both those drinks are sweeter than BBQ sauce. That's wayy too sweet for a man's drink.

Smirnoff Twisted

/thread

edit: /skips away, good night

Good think you skipped away. Smirnoff without the twist maybe...

Irish Carbomb, followed by a nice Maker's and Coke.

NO. That drink is for girly men. When you drink too much of it, you shave the hair on your ass.

Wow I can't believe how many people have said Vodka. It's not an overly girly drink but I certainly don't consider it manly.

Manly drinks include whiskey on the rocks or neat, bourbon, rum (marginal) and of course beer.

Oh yeah, and Appletinis.

Okay.. so the big hairy Russian (think Zangleif on Street Fighter 2) that pounds shots of vodka and says, "WE DRINK NOW" after every business deal, he's a wussy... But Appletinis.. they are a man's drink?

Calling Appletinis a man's drink is like calling Buffy a man's show.

That's for frat guys.. don't really think of them as mans' men. Really, that's a drink you hand to chicks you want to get drunk. But, I really have trouble saying anything with cinnamon is a man's drink. Also, Jagermeister has a man's name.. but I've met a lot of women with men's names..

Captain and Coke FTW.

another drink to get women drunk.. while you stand by and drink a man's drink

rum & coke 50/50

rye works too.

No. Rum is sweet enough by itself. Pirate songs are about rum.. straight.. not coke and rum. Pirates are mans' men. They say, "ARRRRGHHH" and have peg legs and busted out eyes.

Anything more than 80 proof straight.

Wrong. Grey goose is slightly more than 80 proof and all it says is, "Hey, I'm a woman who likes bad vodka because of the pretty bottle!" Grey goose was made into a brand by a businessman who bought a failing bad vodka and decided people would think it was good if he charged a lot for it and put it in a pretty bottle.

Shots of Jack and Tequila washed down with a Guiness stout, it's the only thing I drink unless I'm sick, then it's Sammy Adams.

How does that G.Thorogood song go now ?

One Bourbon, one Scotch and one beer..........................

Winner.. If there's a classic rock song about what you've been drinkin', then it's pretty safe to say it's a man's drink.

-----------------

Okay, so maybe I've insulted you.. But I'm really sick of people calling all these sweet-tasting mixed drinks MENS DRINKS. They're not. They're girly mans' drinks.

Here's some 'men's drink' rules:

- Brown drinks are men's drinks.. unless they're carbonated or sweet.
- Men's drinks have typically 2 syllables or less.
- Shots are for shooting with women to get them drunk, or to preceed beers. Otherwise, they go in a rocks glass.
- Cheap beer in quantity is always a man's drink.
- Foreign beer is only a man's drink if it's actually being drunk in a foreign country. There are some exceptions to this rule, however.
- Iffy drinks such as gin, vodka, and rum automatically become men's drinks if they're drunk out of the bottle, with russians who say 'DRINK' before every shot, or drunk straight up in a rocks glass.
- If the drink name is the same as a brand name (ie.. Jager, Aftershock, Goldschlager, etc.), then it is NOT a man's drink.
- Men's drinks, except beer, are flammable.
- Anything alcoholic that a bum drinks is a man's drink.

Here's some men's drinks..

- whiskey.. the cheaper, the better
- scotch, followed by chain-smoking
- vodka, with loud russians
- tequila, when it's preceeded by a beer, with mexicans, etc
- cheap beer
- decent beer
- beer, except obnoxiously foreign beer snobbery is displayed while drinking it.. such as saying "Ewww, Budweiser!! I only drink Beckinlagerstoutenbacher from Gubenbacker, Germany!"
- Manhattan.. the ONLY man's drink that has a very slight amount of something sweet in it

Rules that break any potential men's drink:

- more than 2 ingredients.. real men don't cook
- decorations in it.. olives, cherries, orange peels, lime in a Corona (big no no)... unless there's mosquitos around and it's 100 degrees outside
- has juice in it
- is sweet

Anyway.. sorry to burst a lot of bubbles. I'll admit, I don't always drink 'men's drinks'.. .but I never claim that girly drinks ARE men's drinks.

So.. don't try to sew balls on the fruit.

Oookay, first of all I was joking about Appletinis (thinking of JD from Scrubs, "I'll have an appletini, easy on the tini."). And I never said that Vodka is a "wussy" drink, just that I don't consider it a mans drink. Vodka is far too easy to mix with wimpy fruity mixers which is probably why I consider it a not so manly drink - because of all the girly pre-mix bottles out there. The only way to make Vodka a mans drink is to drink it straight, and it's still marginal.

I agree. And that song kicks ass.

Why on earth is "the cheaper the better" for whiskey? And why did you list both whiskey and scotch? Scotch is a whiskey. Personally I say the more expensive the better for whiskey - I drink Jonny Walker (black or red) or Bookers mostly.

Manhattan on the rocks is my go-to these days.
lime in a Corona (big no no)
Lime is basically what makes Corona potable!

Scotch is a special class (also, always spelled "whisky"). I don't know about Booker's costwise, but Black and Red are pretty cheap when it comes to Scotch.
