What's a good way to end a quick phone call without sounding rude?

For instance,

In a business scenario, there is somebody you have to call several times a day. They could be a supervisor or an employee, etc. You just need to know one thing, say, a measurement of something. Or something they know of the top of their head. Anyways, you call, you ask, they say, then what," ok, thanks, thats all i needed?" I always feel obligated to talk a little bit before I hang up, but I never do, I always just say thanks, etc. then hang up quickly.

Saying "Thanks" then just hang up is fine...

I would probably get annoyed if you call that often and always talk for "a bit"...

"Hey, I gotta run for now"
or
"I've got to get going"

is a polite way of saying "I'm done now, bye" :)

The least you could do would be to say "Have a nice afternoon" - "Talk to you later"

"Sounds great Bill. Zip it up and zip it OUT!"

"Uh, okay Dave, zipideedoodah!"

Just come to be known as annoying and you will never have that problem. Or find a way for BO to be transferred over the phone and don't use deodorant.
