Hey, I have a ASUS p5W DH Deluxe mobo, no sli. I used to have a AGP 6800OC, but can't use it anymore bc its agp.

I would really like to invest the money into a directx10 card when it comes out, but till then. Does anyone know of a good video card for under 200 or 300 that will run the latest games and work for my mobo?

7900GT for around 299$ or a X1900XT for around 320-340$, I recommend the extra bucks for the X1900XT.

Or save more than half that and get a 7600GT. It'll still play games at good performance and resolution, and not feel like such a waste of money when you get rid of it so soon to get a DX10 card.

I just read. And these are now the cards im considering

X1900 (Idk if its a good graphics card, but its a all-in-wonder so it has a tuner. But is it good??)
1800xt
7900gt
X1900GT

Out of those 4, which one? I'm a real big nvidia fan, so I'm kinda leaning towards the 7900Gt. But is it really better? The X1900 has a tuner!!

Your the same guy that was willing to pay someone over on Xtremesytems to make a list of watercooling parts aren't you?

I will make this easy on you.

Best for the max of $300- x1900xt Buy it here
Best for around $250- 7900gt Buy it here
Best for around $200- x1900gt Buy it here
or maybe this if you want to overclock and don't mind mail-in rebates
-x1800gto2 it is basically an x1800xt rebadged and underclocked Buy it here
Best for around $150 - 7600gt Buy it here

There those are about the cards to look at. If you want to learn something about what video cards are good or bad then I suggest looking at The Anandtech Mid Range GPU Roundup Summer 2006 that way you can pick your own card after looking at performance information instead of having others pick your card for you. Also welcome to Anandtech.

1900XT PERIOD unless the only games you play are like Pacfic Fighters and Serious Sam 2.

I would choose a 1900XT over a 7900GTX even if they were priced the same.

Get the 1900XT, hardly a comparison.

Ya it's better but it's a little out of your price range wich is why I didn't inlude it. For $350 it's a great buy IMO. What is your limit though because the x1950xtx is supposed to be out in mid sept for a price of $400 and that would be a great card if you are looking at the x1900xtx. If $400 is too high then pick up the 1900xtx as I don't think the price will drop much more.
