Ideally get a dual fan and possibly even a manually controlled PSU. I have seen quite a few components fried over the years from using a cheap no-name PSU, not only that but I have heard from many people that a branded 300W often outperforms a no-name 400W PSU, speaker analogy it's a case of branded PSUs quoting RMS while no-namers quote PMPO!

would forummers get a kinda no-name PSU with dual fans at 350W or an AMD approved 300W PSU with a single fan?

;) Branded 300W single fan as you would genuinely get 300W for one thing. Other factors like reliability, build quality, durability also support the branded PSU. As I say I have seen too many components fried from no-name PSUs to ever use one myself, if you're on a budget or you needs/reqs are small then the standard PSU you get with your case should do fine.

is this Q-Tec PSU Link count as a decent branded PSU?

am not too sure whether to buy a new but unbranded cheap 3 3.5" case for £25 which i think has fan mountings or just get a new PSU (e.g the one up above) for my rather larger server like case??

www.komplett.co.uk (excellent BTW).

Q-Tec PSU ATX 400W Dual Fan £26 (SKU: 112083, Manufacturer's Part Number: 13023, Weight: 1.90 kg)
Enermax PSU ATX 350W £47 (SKU: 109202, Manufacturer's Part Number: EG365P-VE(FM), Weight: 2.50 kg)

 Weight is usually a good guide to quality, but not necessarily 100% accurate. I'd be happy to get that PSU for the price, if it doesn't suit your needs sell it on, a 400W dual fan PSU will get about the same price second hand anyway. Check to see if it is on the AMD-certified PSU list, if it is then that's another feather in its cap.
