I'm looking for core 2 duo, perhaps two of them, using cheaper DDR2 memory (FB-dimm is stupid expensive).

4GB minimum, preferably upgradable to 32gb (16 or 64 is fine too).

Sata raid-1 (probably two 500gb sata drives)

Decent on board video or cheap nvidia that can handle 1920x1080@60hz ouput (VC1,h.264,mpeg-4).

DTS output (toslink or copper) to my surround system

Maybe some overclock but nothing hardcore.

Will be doing photo processing so i'd like to start with 8GB of ram but maybe 4gb possible.

NO O/S (i have my own copies of vista/XP PRO/Linux to use)

Is this combo even reasonable? Seems silly to have to go AMD since alot of PSHOP speed is lost.

Anyone care to give me a breakdown (or know a place that sells this package)?

I don't believe there are any boards that take ddr2 and can use more then 8gigs, if you want 16+ you will probably have to go fb-dimm.

the hard part is going to be the motherboard.

Tyan is one of the companies that I know supports memory at hose high capacities.
The boards are not cheap and you have to use fbdimm.

Here is one such board:

The other thing is that most boards with those high memory requirements tend to be xeon based.
