Whats a good porn filter?

Hi........
I am in need (for a friend =p) of a porn filter.
My friend has one but somehow it doesn't filter sometimes, only on certain boots.
I think he has wizguard or something.
What we need is a good, free (or trial thingy) filter that filters strictly adult material.
I don't want a filter that blocks a site just because a bad word is in the URL or something.

let me know.....
thanks =p

:Q

thanks mundania...
i'll look into that.

hmmmmm, Frenchie, was that the only solution that worked for you?

There was a review of one that actually worked in MaximumPC about a year ago. I think it was called EyeGuard, but I'm not sure.

oh yea, now that you mention it, I think I do remember that program, except that it cost alot I think.....

good memory though =]

thanks for the ISP, I will let him know...

the only problem is that he has a contract for a year with Swbell for DSL, like me......so i dont think getting a new isp will work...

thanks though
your a good person
:]

There really aren't any filters that will work 100% of the time. The way that most of them work is that the webmaster has to put some tags at the top of every HTML page to let the filter (NetNanny, CyberPatrol, et. al) know that the page isn't suitable for youngins. It's just a simple form to fill out www.rsac.org, but most webmasters won't take the time to do it.

I think that there are some that use a list of blocked domains, but those won't work either. Too mean freakin domains being registered every day to keep up with. The best filter is a parent sitting next to their child while they surf.

wow, so I guess he should consider that Eyeguard program.....

When wizguard works, he says it does a good job, but with the dsl and all, he says its easy for his kids to get into bad sites accidently.
and they don't do it on purpose, considering they are like 7 and 8

Thanks for the info...
im off to bed :]

umm the fool proof filter is Disable auto load images and disable Java. Thats what I do if Im going into uncharted waters.
Thanks,

The KIDS don't INTEND to look at PORN ok.....
its just that sometimes you can get into it accidently...

example: kid reads redhead ducks magazine.....

kid types in what he thinks the homepage would be , but it wasnt the homepage it was a pr0n site......so its easy for kids to accidently get into it...

p.s : I was trying to keep the smartass replies to a minimum, i dont need your jackass remarks 😛
