I have a bit of headroom in my $1500 budget for a new comp at NewEgg, and I thought I'd put in a PCI sound card. But I don't really know any good names for sound cards... anyone have a recommendation for a good card that's between $75 and $100?

Thanks!

If you are gaming, your only choice is an Audigy basically. Good card though, IMO

Forget a soundcard, get a Plantronics DSP500.

You will never go back to speakers and cheesy soundcardsa again.

Ok, I actually like them, they ned no soundcard and they sound great, not to mention they have a built in mic.

On board sound isn't really isn't bad... until my friends complained about the static when i'm using the mic. An Audigy 2 ZS sounds really good with my 5.1 setup and not to mention no more static on mic.

Audigy2 ZS if you're a gamer. Chaintech AV-710 if you want great sounding music on the cheap (under $30).

Looks like the Audigy2 ZS will juuust about fit into my budget. Great! I looked at the DSP-500. It looks good - however I was planning on getting a similar device from Logitech ("Logitech Extreme PC Gaming Headset") which has a ratchet boom, back-of-the-neck instead of top of the head placement, a wider frequency range for the mic (which is noise canceling), and is $41 less than the DSP-500 - am I missing something about the DSP-500?
