oh yeah i was lookin for a p4 1.6ghz, 40gig hd, 256mb ram (any), cdrw....and basics (mouse/keyboard) monitor optional..

Or better yet, buy from your local mom and pop shop. Nothing better than imediate recourse, and they build custom to your budget normally.

Why aren't you considering a Dell?

There are several specials running, throw in a $50 and/or $75 coupon, free CD-RW or DVD upgrade, free shipping, 3% back with eBates.com, it can get pretty cheap.

Also Gateway has a few specials.

If you want GHETTO cheap OEM with reasonable warranty then check out Micro Express.

Remember you get what you pay for.

Yeah its for a relative, and i dont want to be the tech support or the blame when something goes wrong so i prefer not to make it myself.

Please don't even consider Gateway. I make a lot of money doing Gateway warranty work, which is good for me but bad for the owner of the computer (it's down all the time). I think their assembly line has wool carpeting for the workers to stand on and they're required to shuffle their feet constantly while handling the components.

Shuffle, zap, oooh! Shuffle, zap, aaaah! Shuffle, zap and there goes another Gateway out the door.
