I'm ditching Intel so I need a new motherboard. Any recommendations? I would like to stay around $100.

Honestly, for normal use, you won't see any benefit to having an X2.
But if you want to be able to encode video as you do several other things at once, the benefits are very apparent.
Also, more games & programs are being/will be written for dual core.
If you only keep your CPUs for like a year, then the non dual core would be fine.
But if you like to keep your CPUs for a while, it makes sense to go dual core...

Anyone know if the 3700 comes with the new heatpipe cooler?

Glad I saw this thread because I was about to post the same question ... except I am going to go with a X2 4400.
The DFI ultra D is very interesting because of the feedback I have been getting on it. For every 2 people I see that say this board is awesome, I got one person who reports horror stories. NOt sure I am willing to roll the dice on this board anymore and I was VERY close to ordering it.
Now I am beginning to lean towards the Asus A8N-E ( I dont need SLI ) but... so many different recomendations here. On the other hand I have heard so many good things about the SLI version I may just get it .
