Woa Stripe,
Thats the same problem I'm having with my old IBM kb! It only happens in Quake1 and randomly in Cstrike. Usually I will type something in and then hit enter and a ton of characters appear and then it disconnects me from the server.

If you're looking for a good keyboard, go IBM or Keytronics. Logitech and Microsoft make decent keyboards that are popular because they are most commonly found in stores. Keytronics are hard to find but are a lot better.

Keyboards do make a difference in gaming. Specific elements such as: responsiveness, how well the keys are made to last, the placement of keys (No window's keys is a plus!) all come into play.

After looking at the boxes on my floor for over a month, I decided to hook up my MS Natural Pro and my Intellimouse Optical yesterday. I'm totally USB now in WIn2K, WinME, and Linux.

Natural keyboard is totally impossible to walk away from once bitten. MS Natural keyboard Pro is absolutley awesome, even got 2 USB-ports on the backside. You will not regret...

Natural keyboards are hell spawned.. complete crap to type on I cannot stand them. I will never buy any keyboard other than Logitech, I love my Internet keyboard with the media buttons and stuff on the top, I use those regularly and the feel of the keyboard is best i've seen (personal opinions though!) and it's a good deal too.

it takes a beating from me (avid Q3 player) and it stands up just great.

The old IBM ones are the greatest.

If you can find any of them, try to find and old Northgate OmniKey.

IBM keyboards are the best, IMO. Nice feel in the keys. I recently got a $5 Acer keyboard from a computer show and its spill proof, solid, and the keys almost feels like IBM. I had a MS internet keyboard where the keys aren't damped at all, it bottoms out with the lightest touch and its damned loud. I had better experiences with my original Natural keyboard, I think older MS keyboards are better than the newer batches that came out recently.

I just bought the IBM active response keyboard. The keys are really quiet and they have a nice sturdy feel to them. Plus it's a cool black color. This keyboard was only $10 after rebate at CompUSA.

Believe it or not, I'm still using an original Northgate Omnikey Ultra! It's probably about 10 years old at this point and still holding up. Only one key has ever failed on me! This is a heavy keyboard - all metal construction. Can't get them anymore under this brand name but they are being made under the name Avant Stellar. Not a cheap keyboard by any means. Dam! Expensive as hell considering others . Glad I have an original though.

I have an old Dell keyboard from some little computer store..

Works great, keeps going even though I've spilled quite a bit on it...Plus I paid a nickel for it.

if you're looking for the old IBM keyboards, find the ones with the _blue_ IBM lettering. the ones with the _black_ lettering i think are just too old.
