What's a good keyboard to buy?

I am looking for a good general use/gaming keyboard. Any good ones out there? I know the keyboard is a basic component, but I think in makes a difference in games where some keyboard use is required (Q3/Counterstrike).
 
How did you determine that a keyboard "makes a difference" in games?
 
I use a Logitech Deluxe Access. It's got a few of those internet buttons, but I don't use them.
I used to use Key Tronic keyboards and in my opinion they are one of the better, but no one sells them anymore 🙁.

 
STAY AWAY from Microsoft keyboards. They used to be quality, but lately, every single one I have tried has been horrible. Squeaks, stuck keys and the like...

Get a natural, and I would recommend a Logitech...
 
Uh... I have to disagree, my Natural Pro has been doing great since more than a year ago, and many people have had good experience regarding their quality. I would recommend the Internet Pro for non-split, and Natural Pro for split. Logitech is nice too, just dont get those cordless ones.
 
you cant go wrong with one of the old school ibm ones...i'm still using the one that came with my ps/2 model 30, a beastly 286
 
That's why I said the recent ones. I had great experiences with the older ones (more than 6 months) but for some reason, Since December, everyone I've tried has SUCKED... friend's keyboards, store ones (well they are always banged up) and personally two that I had returned. I gave up and stuck with the third one since I figured the rest were like it too.
 
I have a microsoft internet pro that I got on clearance two weeks ago that I like (other than the inability to change the sleep key to something other than hibernate). I have the Logitech deluxe at work. They are both good and do not have that oversized enter key that forces you to have a small backspace. If you are going cheap, I prefer the Mitsumi keyboards for reliability. I've had users dump sodas in these things in hopes of getting it replaced (instead of just taking the rag with windex on it to clean it up.) My boss has just now failed our second Mitsumi keyboard in the past five years. He somehow managed to break and lose a leg. The other failure was my keyboard where the "1" key finally gave out after 3 years of heavy programming. (Its here at the house so I'm taking its one leg and repairing my bosses for a spare keyboard to keep in the office)
 
Another vote for the original IBM PS/2 keyboards. Those things are tanks, nothing like a 5 lb. keyboard. 🙂 Good positive feedback from the keys and I've never had one brake.

I love my natural pro, you should get one, you pay a hefty price, but they are nice. Plus you get two usb ports on the keyboard.
 
don't the natural keyboards use the non-inverted-T arrow configuration?...that would fvck me up for sure...

they use the cross configuration or something...hate that..

anyway, the black IBM keyboards are sweet ass if u want black...if not, get an i-net keyboard...
the MS pro ones have a USB hub...

oh yeah, chicony makes some sweet ass i-net keyboards too...chicony
 
If you use a laptop at all I like I do you will love the wireless laptop keyboards that are out. The one that I purchased works VERY nice!

I love those old IBM PS2's that weigh 5lbs, but my expirience is that they don't work with newer machines running above 300mhz. Something with the timing, you get weird characters @%C(@$ when typing
