I'm moving out to L.A. and I need to find a good ISP for my new apartment. Fortunately, the room is well equipped with a second phone line and DSL and cable hookups. Any advice on the best bang for the buck? Money is an issue, but I'm not sure if I can stand having a full-time dial-up connection, so I'm thinking I'll probably go with cable. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...

Thanks, I appreciate the help. I'll look into it...always been pleased with Worldnet's dialup service.

I have DirectvDSL and it works great. Uhm, for dialup I highly recommend SurfSide. They are local ISP (Huntington Beach) and their basic fee is $10/month. I've referred two ppl and they couldn't be happier.

ATTBI is pretty good. 1.5kbps/300kbps. They raised the price for cable modem owners though, from 35.95(I think) to 41.95. Its still not that expensive though. =)

Actually, according to the website it's 41.95/month if you own a cable modem and 45.95 to rent. Ugh. Although they do give you the first two months at $31.95, with I think no obligation to continue. I just read PCMag's reader survey of ISPs, though, and ATTBI didn't do so well. What do you all think?

Nutbucket, got a link for DirectTVDSL?
