What's a good handheld gps receiver that can be used as car gps

Like the title says. I want a gps receiver I can carry with me while at the same time I can use it in my car for navigation. I'll go for the best no problem. Please recommend me a great one you have used.

Any Android phone with Google Navigation is pretty damn hard to beat...

Nothing beats listening to streaming music on the road, and have the music automatically paused while navigation instructions are periodically read out over the car stereo.

I agree about Android.

Have used Garmin, Tomtom, and many others, including the Pioneer in my car audio. Android phones trump them all. Now when you say "carry" do you mean up in the mountains or on the steet, cuz you need constant cellular connection to use maps on a smartphone.

You don't need a constant cellular connection if you have the maps locally stored on your phone. http://www.mapdroyd.com/ works well for this.

Interesting, so garmin is out of the question !? I plan to use my gps where there is no network coverage. I was thinking about this:

But I'll look into this Android phone. The thing is that I already have a smart phone, so I don't know!
