Well, I took the test a couple months ago, and I am starting grad school in late august.

I got a 680. EDIT: and a 5.0 on the essays.

Is this high enough if you're thinking about a Ph.D.? Anyone know?

That's a good score. Phd? GMAT is mostly used for MBA.

i'm thinking waaaaay in the future (at least 4 years)--after I get my MBA.
Yeah, that is a good score. An advisor told me that 650 was the magic number. From what I understand, a 680 will get you acceptance into many good university PhD programs that require a GMAT.

I dunno about PHD, but 700+ is ideal to get into any of the elite MBA schools (top ten) .

I was originally planning Carlson School of Management (for MIS in Minneapolis), but that's too expensive for me, but I think their average is about 610 or so and they are(/were?) rated 5th for MIS grad school.

I assume the 700+ is for MIT, Urbana/Champaign and the like?

GMAT is only good for 5 years. So in 5 years you have to retake it. You don't need a MBA to go dfor a PhD. But it is recommended you have one.

600+ is good enough to get into an average school. about 670+ to get into a toptier school that is not in the North East. If you want to get inot a top school in the NE then you need a 700+

I only got a 610 and a 4 on the essays. I'm going to retake it next year.
