I want to get a new game, as am bored with nsphp2. Games I have liked in the past - Doom 2, all of the commander keen , kings quest 1 - 5, nsf porche, early prince of persia (the last one I tried seemed slow, lots of walking around without much happening.

So I would like something fast - that does not have a steep learning curve.

I've always found you can't go wrong with Blizzard games...Warcraft, Starcraft even Diablo (though thats not that fast I suppose).

Also the original Medal of Honour and its new mission pack, Breakthrough is excellent if you like FPS games.

Warcraft III looks like it might be good. I would like something fairly new - so as to show off my video card.

I am downloading the demo now. thanks

if you want something fast paced and flashy to show off your hardware, you can't go wrong with unreal tournament 2003 :)

Like RTS games? Warcraft 3 is good yeah, but i'm big into Medieval Total War right now...

Also: Age of Wonders 2 (Turn based strategy), Medal of Honor is great, Rise of Nations is an awesome RTS and Enemy Territory is the only multiplayer FPS I play these days. Full game is a free download!!!

If you're a fan of adventure games, I'd recommend an older one from LucasArts ( I think ) - Grim Fandango. It's graphics still hold, and supports a 3D card. Another that's psuedo-Adventure/RPG is Anachronox (ramped up Q2 engine, and mind-boggling plot). You should be able to pick up either of them in a bargain bin, or cheap on Ebay. And the best part is they'll run on and old p2-300 =). Those don't quite match your "fast paced" criteria, but they were damn good.

ronnn, it seems like you have rather wide ranging but discriminating tastes.
How about, both new and old:
Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight (the one with full motion video)
Freedom Fighters
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
No One Lives Forever 1 &/or 2
Warcraft3
Age of Mythology or Rise of Nations
FIFA (of course) 2003
Return to Castle Wolfenstein
Homeworld 2
IL-2 Sturmovik: The Forgotten Battles
Robin Hood: The Legend of Sherwood and its cousin Commandos (any of the series)
