Sim games are fun and non violent. The Sim and Roller Coaster Tycoon are pretty fun.

Try one of the of Worms games. They're still centered towrd killing you're opponent, but it's done in such a silly fashon--cartoon worms attacking each other with sheep and moles--that I doubt she would have any objections (unless she also objects to Looney Tunes, then you're stuck). They're also great multiplayer games, so you can play each other.

And you can download them for free, legally at the Underdogs
Legally? AFAIK the "abandonware" concept has never been shown to be legal.

Also, Amazon.com still sells a $9 jewel-case Return of the Incredible Machine (search "incredible" in software) so buying a for-sure legal copy is pretty cheap.

Well, I guess I just assumed it to be legal. The developers don't seem to care- if they do their software is removed from the site. Besides, the vasy majority of the games on that site aren't available anywhere. Oh, and the Return of the Incredible Machine isn't even available on the Underdogs. Just speculation, but that could be because the game is still freely available, although that's just a guess.

Edit: Nevermind. According to Underdogs website, it is illegal. They state that they are simply trying to make otherwise unavailable games available to the public, and that they will gladly remove any games that the publisher is still selling or requests be removed. They are not profiting in any way.

My GF doesn't normally like games, but she got addicted to The Sims. She also liked The Longest Journey and Syberia (both are adventure games with women as the main characters). I've played all of those as well and must say that they are all good games.

My wife is addicted to freecell. My only non-bloody game is Tiger Woods PGA 2004.

I tried to get my girlfriend interested in games. All she'd play, though, is Solitaire and the original Oregon Trail

The Oregon Trail rocked.

You shot 7685 pounds of meat.

You were able to carry 65 back to the wagon.

Another vote for Tiger Woods 2004 best golf game I have played to date. Gotta love having a golfer with a yellow afro and a green clover shirt followed with a rolex watch and some tatoos, dont even get me started on the clown shirt and plaid knickers. :D

Racing Sims? my wife likes NFS and MotoGP. Another family favorite is Boarder Zone, its a pretty fun, quick Snowboard game.

Many stores have arcade type games - usually 100 on the cd for $10. Consider getting one of those and letting her sample to see what she likes.

Sometimes what the person actually doesn't like is ACTION games. It's not necessarily the violence or killing. A lot of people don't enjoy the tension created by the frantic pace of an action game.

Anyway, perhaps she would like you to put a Super Nintendo emulator on the computer and let her play some platformers like Super Mario Bros. My wife liked that quite a lot. She remembered when she was little and her turn would last like 5 seconds and then her brother would play for like 30 minutes before it was her turn again.

Also, another title that got a lot of mileage from non-gamers is Myst.
