What's a good, free DVD player?

I have always used WMP and don't like it. There's got to be a good free one.

I didn't think that WMP would play dvd's unless you had another decoder installed? Isn't that why almost every freeware media player doesn't support dvd's as they would have to pay for the license to decode? VideoLAN is actually the first freeware one I have heard of.

I have Power DVD that came with a video card but it only uses two of my speakers unless I buy the full version.

And yes the MPEG2 codec isn't free and a license is supposed to be bought for each player that wants to use it. videolan.org is hosted out of France, so maybe they're not affected or they're just hoping that since they're not in the US it won't be worthwhile to go after them.
