I have an Apex DVD Player, this is the only dvd player I have ever had a lot of experience with and well...it was really cheap and has lasted us for about...2 years i think. And it is till working fine, i am not a DVD Junkie though so i dont know much.

i like my sony ns715p. it plays every single format (except divx) and is progressive scan (you may not own a hdtv now, but just in case for the future). i got it for around $125 bucks. has performed flawlessly for me.

to be honest, i'm not too concerned about progressive scan. what i am concerned about is, my current dvd player seems to get stuck when it warms up. i'd like to get a decent player that does decent sampling small scratches won't stop it.

the sony one earlier mentioned has some dealie called precision drive 2...I have the dvp-ns415 and it has it too. I'm very happy with mine but it doesn't have progressive scan.

The Sony 315 I got for $99 a few months ago tracks problem discs much better than my old Panasonic A110.

since yer into a new dvd player, you prob don't want to hear this, but..

did you try cleaning the lens? they have one o those cd cleaner cds w/ feather thingies around the cd, and it cleans as it spins. worked for my players when they start to crap out.

btw, sorry about the nets. (i thought spurs in 5, but nets did hang around, and almost pushed to game 7.) but i still say go pistons :p hope to beat you guys at the conf finals next year ^^

Yah, but it's vaporware as far as I know... I've seen that website for months, but haven't actually seen one.

:) about the nets. actually, next season i'm going to be rooting Hawks, till it is for sure they have no chance at the playoffs. then it'll be nets. I'm a true blue hawks fan, i just happen to live in NJ at the moment.

oh btw, ya i have one of those cleaning kits and it doesn't seem to help, hence i'm thinking it's the player itself.
