whats a good divx player you would recommend?

As in software or hardware? Because there are dvd players that can play divx files out there...

it's just a .avi file renamed.

You can change it to .avi and it'll play fine.

Totem on Linux. In Windows, I have to manually hunt down codecs, whereas with Totem, I haven't found a video file I couldn't play. Even those pesky incomplete avi's...

well, i tried using media player 9 to open it, it just tells me it encountered an error, and web help provide no help...

then the file probably wasn't encoded in divx. Or the file could be corrupted
