I'm getting a new digital camera for my B-Day and I want to know what is a good one to pick out? Price Range is $150 and under

I'm Currently using a Kodak Easyshare DX-4900 4.0MP (Originally cost $400 in 1999 or 2000 I don't remember exactly what year I got it but it was between those two years) It sucks for macro photography and thats what I do the most. (I sell stuff on Ebay and I like to take pictures of my projects I do

My Requirements are
1. Takes standard AA Batteries (I have a bunch of rechargeables from my old camera that I would love to reuse)
2. Have great macro mode
3.Really Don't have any other requirements

I'd go for the Canon Powershot A550 or A560 in this price range, a 7 MP camera with 4X optical zoom.

You're not going to get something that's a major leap better than what you have now in this price range, though. I'd recommend spending an extra $50, and getting something like the A570 IS with image stabilization.

So far no complaints about a Fujifilm F20 that we bought new for just under $140. Have not shot a full chip yet though. But Steve's Digicam had it highly rated.

sidenote - what did I miss about Steve's. No new reviews. He quit?

The Canon A460 (5 megapixel, 4X optical zoom, movie mode w/sound, 2" LCD). Hope that helps...

Check out the samsung s850 - large sensor and the few people that have it seem to like it - read the 'other' cam forum on dpreview. . .

One thing about the F30 is that in addition to taking great pics especially in low light, it has a truly amazing battery life. Before i got the F30 I had a sony DSC-p92 which used AA batteries but it was always a pain b/c I would be lucky to get 100 pics on one charge and I would always carry around like 6 extra AA w/ me. I went with the F30 with uses a proprietary internal lithium ion batterry even though I had a bunch of rechargable AA sitting around. I know I made the right choice b/c I always fill up the 512mb card before My battery is near dead. It is supposed to get 580 shots according to fuji and I think that is a very accurate measurment.
