Then you'd better avoid Lexmark as well.

Brother is about your last choice, you're kicking yourself in the balls for not considering HP.

aye, for your budget, the 2210 is pretty perfect. Check out the specs & some reviews, HP makes the best all in one, the 2510. Ink is expensive, but like rossman said, brother is an option, but i wouldnt go there.

and they plan to get back all the savings selling overpriced ink.

Dell = made by Lexmark, the nice folks who used the DMCA to stop other companies from making compatible ink carts.

If your dad does a lot of printing and doesn't need color, get a laser based unit, toner is much cheaper per page than ink.

We've owned an HP v40 for 8 months and are still using the same ink cartridges. The replacements are cheap if you buy from OD using a $15 or $20 off coupon with free shipping.

well obviously! come on now

You have to acknowledge that given R&D, production costs, it has to cost >$150 for them to make an all-in-one

It's just a matter of how much you use it. My HP 842C was relatively cheap up front; I can buy black ink refills for about $10 that are a bit of a hassle but work fine after about 20 pages through them. I can buy color ink on ebay in remanufactuered cartriges about once every six months...

You don't have to buy HP ink. It's just a hassle not to

What people always forget is that you shouldn't compare manufacturers ink cartridges based soley on the price. True HP's are a wee bit on the high end, but as someone said before its no where close to where Lexmark is. What you should look for when comparing ink cartiges is cost/page.....or a bit harder to figure out cost of the cartridge vs. amount of ink that is in there. You will find that HP is actually one of the more economical printer manufacturers.

? you mean the scan goes to your hd first, then you print? on the 2210, you push copy & it makes a copy, no pc involved

My HP v40 all in one prints, copies, scans and faxes.

It prints by first scanning the document once then printing however many copies I want in color or b&w.

They work as stand-alone copiers....you do not need a computer.

Damn I didn't know he was asking about that.

Yes most modern all in one multifunctional printers can copy, fax, print and scan INDEPENDENT of a computer.

So you don't even need a computer for it to work, it can work by itself with the PC on or off.

I helped a co-worker buy a brand new HP 2210 for $139 they seem to be quite pleased with it. Whenever they want to make a copy, fax something or scan they can do it from home in their underwear :)

i find it hard to believe that HP ink is more economical then generic epson ink from megatoners and such. true u get what u paid for, but at 1/10 of the price, its hard to resist generic ink and i can live with the quality, so i think i might get the epson. what is the diff between cx3200 and cx5200?

You could buy the HP 2110 (different than 2210?) for $120 with a FREE $15 GC and FREE SHIPPING.

Go to OfficeMax.com get the HP 2110, find the OM.com $30 off $150 coupon and check out.
