I have the canon F50. It prints, scans, fax, and copies great.
The best part is the ink is cheap and no hassle at all by using generic ink.
It costs around $2 for the inks. Also, this one is a stand alone machine, you don't
need to turn on your computer to use it, unlike lexmark.
HP is good too but, the ink is very expensive compare to Canon F50.

thanks, but i'd rather stay away from HP, just because i'm cheap and dont want to pay $$$ for their ink.

Then you'd better avoid Lexmark as well.

Brother is about your last choice, you're kicking yourself in the balls for not considering HP.

I agree Lexmark's totally suck.

That HP 2210 sounds swell, but it's USB only. My brother told me he needed a FAX machine and asked what he should buy. I suggested buying an all-in-one, since they're so cheap. I settled on the Brother MFC5100 Color 5-in-1. Comes to only $149.00 if purchased by the 23rd. It has a USB and Parallel interface, which is what my brother needs on his old hand-me-down PC. Any better deals?

I don't see a $30 OM gift card either besides if they were offering a gift card it cannot be used on this purchase, only future purchases.

So the true cost is:

$150 - $30 off $150 coupon - $20 MIR = $100

Use FatCash or eBates to save about 3% more.

Let's use OD.com as an example like I mentioned in one of my first posts where I recommended an HP :p

$34.99 color + $19.99 black = $54.98 - $15 off $50 coupon = $39.98

There is also a $24.99 photo inkjet cartridge, I assume you only need that if you're printing PICTURES on expensive photo quality paper.

try ebay for inks..i've always gotten cheap ink through them and genuine cartridges too...
not some refurb/reinked junk.

The people on this board hate Lexmark, rightfully or otherwise. They also largely hate Real, AOL, Apple, etc.

Anyhow, I own the Lexmark X63, which is the immediate predecessor to the X125 so I can comment a bit. The design didn't change much; I think they mainly dropped in a faster print/scan/copy engine. I used this machine mostly for faxing. I never tried the scanner, but judging from the copier, it would be very slow. I tried printing a few times, and it's adequate. The strange thing about the X63 is it supports a photo print cartridge (I assume for 6-color printing), but I didn't notice any improvement over the black cartridge. I think overall, it's comparable to most other inexpensive sheet-fed All-in-One machines. You can probably get a flatbed All-in-One for just a little more, but without an ADF.

In the end, to consolidate a bunch of machines (flatbed scanner, HP Deskjet 932, and the Lexmark X63), I picked up an HP OfficeJet D145. A lot better unit, but it's relatively bulky. I'd sell the old units, but I'd only get pennies on the dollar. :frown:

I'm sorry I should've said that was a deal I got in on last week. Rossman, you're correct I should've been a little more detailed. I just figured in the OMAX Gift card as part of the deal...

I must be blind because the only genuine cartridges listed are only discounted a few dollars. Add a $4-5 shipping charge and that brings the total to approximately the street price from a reputable vendor. If anybody knows of a cheap and quality source for HP's #56, #57, and #58, please post the details of the store and item number. I am willing to try refills and remanufactured if they produce acceptable results.

But do people ever listen to good advice? Of course not!

zaku - OM has the HP 2110 for $105 in case you're interested.
