What's a good, cheap HDMI cable?

Get the gold plated HDMI cables, the gold makes the bits transfer faster and you get better picture quality. Lower quality cables that only have copper slow down that data transfer significantly. That's because copper is cheaper than gold.

touché salesman.

Tell me more about the Monster surge protector and the extended warranty.

You need gold plated, diamond encrusted HDMI cable to get the best transfer rate and picture quality which is what Monster Cables offer. Everyone knows this.

Don't waste money on monoprice cables because they're cheap and off low quality. Gold plated cables are a little better than monoprice copper cables, but they're still not an acceptable substitute. You need diamond encrusted cables to get the best picture quality and completely eliminate signal noise.

LOL! Funny stuff. Last time I needed HDMI cables I went to Fry's and looked for the cheapest ones I could find; $6 for 3 of them, 2m.

Just get the cheapest you can find. It's a digital signal so the quality of the cable makes almost no difference to the quality of the resulting signal.

I love the ones where the copper crystalline structure has been aligned. You have to follow the arrow on the cable to make sure the signal flows properly.

I was at Fry's yesterday, and the cheapest ones they had were $15 for 6 ft. 🙁

I ended up ordering 4 from Monoprice for about $16, due to arrive by Friday.

I forgot where I found them but I believe it was in the PC area, not HT.

This was sometime in January.

For a standard 6 ft cable, that's probably true. But over long runs, cheap thin cables could cause problems. It also depends on how much data you are going to be pushing through the cable. Thicker gauge cables can generally handle more higher bandwidth over longer distances.

you must have been looking at the HDMI cables by the TV section...look in the computer area cable section and you can find the cheap ones... They go onsale alot...usually $1 or $2 for a 6' one..

make sure you get one that doesn't require HDMI fluid, otherwise you'll have to change that every few months as it wears out quickly, especially on 1080p content.

Can I get some of that HDMI fluid in bulk? Is 10 lbs considered bulk?
