Has anyone else gotten the extra 1% cash back for 90 days once you've requested the check?

I'm wondering if it is an automatic perk?

Right now I have 6% off gas,super-markets,drugstores and 2% for everything else.

So once those 3 months are done and I have another $50 I can request will they offer me 1 percent additional?

Citi seems to have two good cards out. The rewards one idiscussed here and the Dividend one. Why one over the other?

Skoorb, let us know what your limit is.

While we wait for Skoorb, I'll tell you what they did with me. The first card had a $12K limit and I've had that one for about a year and a half. They kept bombarding me through the mail with offers for other Citi cards and I eventually decided I'd take another Platinum Dividend Rewards card so I could double up on the $300/year limit.

Got the second card last week - $500 limit! So I called to explain how utterly useless that is and the robot-like CSR could only offer to request a credit line increase. Then she said she couldn't even do that, since the card was only a week old.

They did send me a letter a few days later saying that I could split my existing $12K limit between the two cards if I wanted.

It seems I'm stuck at $5k limit forever, even though other cc issuers will gladly give me more. That's ok though since I usually charge up to $2k and pay it off.

Mine is at $4600. I run about $700/mo and pay it off. I think I only called for an increase once about 4 or 5 years ago when I was back at $500. The others have been automatic.

My wife has a cc which has automatically increased her limit at least 3 times.

It started at $1,500 and is now around $5,500
My MBNA card goes up about every 4 months. It started at 2500 and went up $300, then all times after that $500. The last bump was $1000 and now it's at $9300 :)

Like I've said in other threads, Citibank gave me a $7500 limit to start off and wouldn't budge. This was a real lowball for me. I come pretty close to this per month in charges. I waited about 8 months and requested $25K. I'm still waiting for a reply.

My MBNA was my first CC, and they've been slowly but steadily increasing my limit every quarter, about $500 at a time. At $2k on that right now. I keep it around because I have a ton of reward points on it and I like the relatively low fixed interest rate.

But I've gotten two other cards since then; both with about a $4k limit each, but high interest rates. Don't really care about the rates though, because I pay my full balances each month anyways. But I wish I could have a single card with a $25k limit instead of a handful with $2-$4k each.

I just got my first check and it says nothing about the extra 1% back. It just has a general thanks for shopping and review of the benefits. How do you get the extra 1%?

WTF do you need a credit card for if you don't have a job?
Don't you think he'd especially need a credit card if he didn't have a job?

I think you + I talked about this in a thread a month or so ago. I am sad. Maybe I will call and inquire why I didn't get it but my friend did. I will edit in their response...

Ok. I spoke with a customer service rep and they had no clue at all about such an offer. She says they have no offer like that in their system and she has never heard about it before. Any chance there is an offer number or something along those lines? If you could scan it (minus personal info of course), that might help too. I will try to see if I can find out more about this from them.

Our Citibank card runs 16% with a $12K limit. We never called to get it dropped and wife doesn't want to switch since she has been with them for a while. We try not to carry a balance month to month though so interest rate is not a huge factor. No idea why its so high though, we both have credit scores in the high 700's.

amex gives you 5% back as well though so it is kind of worth it if you do a lot of weekend shopping or get gas from costco (or was it 2%? i dont personally have one, i usually use my dad's amex for costco gas). anyways...i'm looking forward to getting a citibank CC with that 5% cash back as well, but i dont know if i'd qualify...is it bad to apply for CC and get denied? (i ask this because somebody else said they got denied since they had no job and i'm in that same situation....no job...just a student). come to speak of it, do they have a promotion for students? i have a handful of other rewards cards, but they're useless, not to mention deceiving....stupid BofAmerica CSR misinformed me that i could get 2% cash back on their credit card...with no minimum purchase, and i could simply just ask for the check to be sent at anytime......boy was he wrong! i used like 260 dollars on it one month and it turns out i got 0 points ! i email them and they give me this weird table for earning points, i still dont get how much i need to spend to actually earn points....so screw them....in fact im gonna send them an email and tell them just that.

i also have a chase builder, where u can earn up to 2% back and that too has a minimum purchase for earning 2% otherwise u'll only get .25% back....it sucks but yeah, could i possibly get approved for the citi CC? and if i apply and get denied will it look bad on my FICO score?

Yes you CAN apply, will you be approved? Sorry my crystal ball is in the shop :p

If you apply and are declined, all that will show is an inquiry on your credit report.

Ok thanks. I will give them a call after dinner and see if I can get more info. Your letter looks exactly like mine except I don't have the whole bonus paragraph.

She says that my account is not eligble for that offer. She says that sometimes Marketing targets specific customers and perhaps you were not using your card that much and so they offered it to you to encourage you to use it more. It seems like a whole magical thing but the bottom line is I am not getting an extra 1%. Thanks though.
