What's a good cable amplifier?

I got Comcast and have been having reception issues. A Comcast technician came and said all I need is an amplifier. So what's good? I only need a one input, two output amplifier. And I'm kinda cheap.

I posted on AVS, but taking too long for responses. I want to have one by tomorrow.

Call up radioshack and some other local stores? Hardware stores might even have it in their electrical departments.

This is a pretty basic item, not going to have 50 different choices that you need to analyze.

I have a 4 port amplifier from RCA. It works pretty well. If you're going to get one for your cable modem make sure it's a bi-directional amplifier.

Not sure, but we use some and never had any issue with them... check the price, if it's not much, just grab one and test it.

Radio Shack's cable equipment sucks. I've never had one that worked as advertised. Not sure about RCA.

It wouldn't hurt to get one that says "active return" and "DOCSIS 2.0 compliant" on it.

That way you won't have problems in the future (cable modems, VOIP, etc.).

Cause they're craptastic. The technician said it would probably cost $100 for him to install one. So he just told me to go buy me myself and showed me how to install.

They will charge you to fix something that you are paying to get anyways?

I'm currently having a similar issue with Charter. But with my internet instead of my tv. They insist it's a problem in my house even though my brother in-law who is a technician that works for charter checked my house for me and determined that's it's a problem on their end.

Thanks to my neighbors for having an un-secure wireless internet.

Take a look at an Electroline amp. I purchased mine online and have been very happy with it.

Tell COmcast to give ou one. It's their lines and their signal. If it's not strong enough they need to get it amplified for you. I have Time Warner and they put an amp in for my signal.
