Whats a good book to learn some SAT words?

Whats a good book to learn some SAT words? Anything that really did the trick, i know if its just like word-definition i wont learn anything, mabey something more visual or some sorta game type thing? Anyone have any ideas?

Barron's sat guide with the 3000 words list, strange thing that most of these words are the same as from GRE study book

<< I believe there is a novel that incorporates many of the SAT words. I can't think of its name, though. >>

That would be a pretty good study aid...

I don't know if it's still relevant in this millenium, but you might be referring to Word Smart.

There are some others of course.

I think there is a book titled: Hot Words for the SAT.
I borrowed it from a friend the week before I took the SAT back in high school and it was pretty helpful in terms of the vocab section. But again, that was like 6 years ago. =) Should be available tin Barnes and Noble if you look.

Lucks,
Mark.

any book with words! i recommend read as much as possible whenever possible. being able to understand words in context is much more helpful than just trying to memorize words/definitions

<---- 750 verbal 🙂

The thing is, and I'm referring to when the exam was just the SAT and not the SAT I, that historically there were a bunch of words that were highly prominent in the verbal sections.

Having that vocabulary neither means you're actually learned, or particularly well-versed in English. It just meant that you had memorized a bunch of SAT words that kept on showing up on the exam.

And like I said, Word Smart (and a later Word Smart 2) were a great compilation of this vocabulary. And others have mentioned similar titles. Whether those titles are still relevant is beyond me.

So if your objective was to develop a vocabulary to maximize your score in the verbal section, rote memorization was a much better/faster way than to actually read literature.
