Whats a good basic inventory tracking software for a small business

My parents wants to use a computer to do inventory tracking, price tracking, etc. This is for a single store and there is no network.
 
if you know much about asp/php/.net you could probably write one pretty easily...you could even integrate wireless handheld scanners...

the only reason i suggest the in-house dev. is that that software can be mighty expensive.
 
MS Access has some decent wizards for Invewntory tracking that may work. For a small mom/pop style business, you just really want to just be able to enter information and the do searches, unless you are trying to link up to a Point-of-Sale system.

I will look into Access. I was thinking maybe Excel could do it also.
