I hate to overgeneralize a breed, but I'd have to agree somewhat. Growing up with lots of dogs around my neighborhood I was never bit by ANY dog except 3 totally unrelated cocker spaniels all from different homes. From what I read, this breed suffered from becoming too popular in the 60s and was overbred causing all sorts of health and temperment problems. This happens to a lot of the more popular breeds. I have to agree too. Growing up in my neighborhood there was lots a free roaming dogs one of which was a cocker. That damn dog must have bit atleast 20 people including me. I don't know how they kept from having to put the thing down. It was a very weird dog. It could be a friendly as could be one minute and the next second it would go hostile and if you so much as move bam it locked onto what ever body part was the closest.
