I used to use H&S even though I didnt have dandruff just because I liked the smell. But the recently changed it and forced me to buy a different shampoo. :(

If nothing over the counter is working, speak with a dr or dermatologist about it. They can give you a perscription for a good shampoo.

nizoral is good, but I find that they all work for a while, but after a while, the fugus start to develop resistance to the active ingredient, so I need to switch back and forth between different anti-dandruff shampoo to keep my dandruff under control.

I been using the Wal-Mart Head and Shoulders knock off Equate brand for years, and now started using their new "cool sensation" series. I will never use another brand or type again. I can get a huge bottle of the stuff for under $3 and this new cool stuff is the sh1t, my head actually feels cool when using it and feel really good after. I love the stuff, OH and no dandruff problems since using the stuff and I used to have a huge problem years ago, I could make it snow, now I have none.

Sorry to say that I went that route when My scalp got bad. I was recommended T-Gel, in which case it made my problem "slightly" better.

Switched to Head and Shoulders and things got a lot better. Haven't tried Intenstive kind though. Will give it a shot this weekend though.

Not to mention, regular H&S makes my scalp HURT. I used it once, and my head hurt for hours. I was scratching and rubbing my head trying to make it stop.

H&S IT does work good. I had dandruff as a teenager, not that bad but it was there... and I started using my dad's H&S IT, and I haven't had any dandruff since... sometimes I even forget that I ever had dandruff :p

If the regular works for you, stick with it. Intensive Treatment uses a different active ingredient and may not work for you.

As I said, it's all about the active ingredient, NOT the name brand. Find the active ingredient that works for you (give each about 2 weeks to see if it works) and then buy the cheapest shampoo with that ingredient.

Ive noticed that you really need to rinse these shampoos out well for them not to make your scalp tender. Otherwise I just use regular H&S once a week in place of my normal shampoo.

The best thing to do is to go to your local dermatologist and diagnose the cause of the dry skin.

Could be anywhere from fungal infections, poor nutrients, sensitivity or allergies to stuff, or even, your genes (which predispose you to dandruff).

Good luck and have fun!

I actually have to switch back and forth between anti-dandruff shampoos, but not as much anymore. I started with H&S, which worked for a bit, then I used T-Gel. I'm back to H&S now (have been for a few years) and it does the job

Nothing worked for me, but like the other guy stated above...NIZORAL.

I feel like a representative talking about this stuff, but it works. Dries your scalp, which seems counterintuitive, but as long as you use it 2x a week everything is good. I use to use Selsun blue, but that lost its effectiveness. Haven't had dandruff since starting Niz.

Use less shampoo.

I wash my hair once every 2-3 days depending. Seems to help keep dandruff down alot more then using all these fancy medicated shampoos.

Your milage may vary.

it could work for you, but you wont get less dandruff if you don't wash your hair. It has nothing to do with washing or not washing. A lot of times, someone has oily hair and dandruff. So washing too much and having dandruff do not necessarily go together.

Seriously. Mine gets insanely oily if I go for 24 hours w/o a shower.

Also, picked up some H&S IT about an hour ago. I'll try it out tonight. Hopefully it'l work

My dandruff normally only shows up in cold weather, so I'm assuming it's just dry skin.

I also take dietary supplements every day and eat relativly well besides. No worries there.
