Head & Shoulders Intensive Treatment.

Selenium Sulfide works wonders.

T-Gel uses Coal Tar. Never worked for me.

They are interchangeable. But I find H&S smells better and makes my hair feel nicer.

Aslo, Selsun Blue is roughly twice as expensive at H&S IT.

I don't have it that bad, so I pick up H&S from our Local Liquidators for cheap.

Regular H&S is no where near as effective as H&S Intensive Treatment. It's like night and day, actually.

That stuff doesn't work for me. My scalp gets so dry in the winter time it'll start bleeding if I scratch at it. Paul Mitchell Tee Tree Special shampoo and conditioner are the only products that keep my scalp from drying up and flaking, and they do a hell of a job. For $12 a bottle they'd better :(

Go by the active ingredient. Not the name brand. You are trying to find a medication that stops your dandruff.

There are many treatments (active ingredients) for dandruff. The key is finding the one that works for you.

So if T-Gel did not work, you know not to try another shampoo with coal tar as the active ingredient.

Denorex is the only one that works for me. It uses salicylic acid.

T-Gel works well for me, I don't have terrible dandruff or anything but I do get some flakes sometimes in the winter due to the dry air. Head & shoulders is a crock of sh!t, I swear it's just regular shampoo with "anti dandruff" slapped on the label.

I've been using Head and Shoulders Original ever since I found out about it years ago, but if it's bad maybe you need to go through a bottle or two of the Intensive Treatment that other posters are talking about.

Thats what I've been using for the last 2 years and without any problems. Doesn't work any better or worse then the generic store brand I had been using but it does smell better.

I've tried Selsun Blue too. that ****** is nasty as hell but doesn't help me.

i guess you just have to try stuff until you find one that works.

I have sebbhoreic dermatitis (sp?) and Head & Shoulders intensive does work well for regular maintenance. When it gets really bad, if the coal tar T-gel doesn't work, there's also a salicylic acid version which is supposedly more effective (and thus more expensive).

Oh, and I use regular or sensitive Dove soap for everything else. H&S and Dove soap are the only combination I've ever truely had recommended to me by dermatologists...aside from prescription stuff.
