Ive got a Japanese person heading my way for a week or so...I need to show 'em around and keep them busy. Im around the Seattle area so I think Ill be able to come up with stuff to do for the week, but the first day I dont think theyre going to want to do any more traveling. Just kinda relax and adjust...so I thought maybe I could take them out to try some American food. Problem is I havnt left the house in many many years...the only names I know of are McDonalds. Id like to find something fairly close, so maybe some kind of popular chain restaurant...but nothing to chinsy.

I'm thinking a steak place. It's funny, but Outback Steakhouse is about as American as they come.

If you want to go more upscale, find a good local steak place or like Ruth Chris or Mortons.

Dear Lord! Do not go to chains! Try locally owned restaurants, diners and, dives. American food is like any other kind of 'ethnic' food. First you steal a recipe you like from another culture and then you substitute ingredients that are available locally. You can usually find decent ones around Universities or, you can ask a concierge at a decent hotel or, try the recommendations of a local radio station but, no fucking chains!

If the guy is from Japan find a nice throwback 50's restaurant; go to it. Your Japanese friends will shit little bricks of enjoyment.

Except perhaps Montanas(if they have one), Bostons, or Tony Romas for Ribs. I prefer Montanas out of that selection.

if you have one around, Famous Daves BBQ, no way in hell does Japan have anything even close to as delicious as our BBQ. And if it's a non chain place you've never been to, DO NOT listen to the people on here. A lot of mom and pop places suck balls, easily as many as chains. They're not magically better just because they only have 1 location.

LOL.

It's funny, but it's true. I looked and their menu and it and isn't Australian.

We love steak and shit, but most of their stuff looks American.

Oh you have to go to Dick's. Then show your friend why Americans are so fat by taking them to Beth's Cafe for the 12 egg omelette.
