you want to play or encode? just get the latest freeware divx prog. from divx to com to play.

ffdshow contains the DivX codec, amongst others (XviD), which is what the OP asked for. Who the hell said anything about post-processing or encoding?

ffdshow is a decoder AND encoder AND postprocessor, much faster, better and free and uses less resources than divx.

Edit: and it includes a lot of formats, basically you can get rid of all our divx, xvid, mjpeg etc..etc..codes with ffdshow
