What's a good 3Dmark for ATI 8500 ???

I've just put a retail 8500 64mbDDR from Newegg in my system.

Specs:

Abit KT7-Raid
Duron 200FSB 1.0 Gig
IBM 7200 Rpm HD
Sound Blaster Live
etc.

With latest drivers (and old ones properly deleted)
I get 5600+ default benchmark.

Is there / should there be any tweaking I would need to do ??

Thanks in advance.

I would have to say that those numbers are very respectable for a Duron.
What type of RAM you running and how much?

With 3DMark2001 default benchmark and a Radeon 8500 Retail I get a score of 6400

In the same system with a GeForce 3 Ti 200 (200/450) I get a score of 5300+

Rig

P-III EB 1GHz
Asus TUSL2-C
512 RAM 133 MHz
40 GB 7200 ATA 100
SB Live Audigy
Win 98 SE

I used to run a 1.2Ghz T-bird with a 200mhz fsb and 256mb PC133 and an 8500 and I got around 6500.
So you probably won't get too much more out of 3dMark unless you upgrade, but I don't think you need to. 🙂

I've got a Tualatin Celeron 1 ghz running at 1450 mhz, and I'm getting aroung 8300. But hey, it's just a synthetic benchmark. Jedi Knight II:Jedi Outcast I got 85-100 fps running it at 1600x1200 with full eye candy. Now that's something to behold.

I used to have a rig somewhat similar to yours... an athlon 1Ghz, KT7A Raid, and 768 megs of PC133 CAS 3 generic RAM, and my score then was around 5400

So seems to ME anyway, that score seems about normal... however now i get 9316 with my current rig.

Thanks for all the help guys.

I'm not much of a gamer anyway, it was mostly a pride thing.

I did do a little tweaking w/ PStrip to 300/300, but 3DMark would lock up.

Just for the record,

the first two test (Car Chase - High / Low Detail) get 80-100 FPS, and 15-28 FPS.

I'm not real happy with that, so I guess another upgrade is in the making.

Once again, thanks for all the input.

are these relatively high scores (to me), due to better drivers?(talking about ATI)
because in the anandtech G4 test didn't like a athlon XP 2000, 256mb DDR,radeon 8500 get around 8800?

i just ordered an athlon XP 1900, 512mb ddr, radeon le, should i expect 7000+?

I just broke 10k with my p4 1.6@2.5g! Upped the mem and gpu core to 285 and bam...10k! I jumped it up to 290 and its running again now.

The 4600 I just returned I finally got it to 12320 or something around there, so I think 10k from a geforce3 ti500 contender is great. The visuals are better with the 8500 as well!

3dmark 2k1 is a product that makes you think you need to buy better computer hardware. When in fact games should be the deciding factor.

I'm running 1.6ghz2.133(533 fsb), th7II, 2x 128 samsung rambus ram and I get like 9756 points in 3dmark with an non overclockes radeon 8500. 6000 is kinda low for your rig 😕

Ick...

Way to make me feel bad! I only get 4900!

But, at least I know that it's my 750 Duron that's the problem now!

The upside to a CPU limited system: I run everything with at least 2XAA. I run UT at 800x600 with 6XAA, and I only lose about 5fps compared to no AA. (33 to 28)

AIW means "All in Wonder", right?

What's your processor? Is it a 750 too? Otherwise, we're just proving my point, that I need a faster one.

<< AIW means "All in Wonder", right? >>

Right. I've got an overclocked 1.4 GHz TBird actually, per my rig specs which certainly doesn't hurt the score.

🙂I got 5312 in 3dmark 2001 s.e. with a hercules Geforce2ti O/C to 270/460 , stock is 250/400.However my system is a little more powerful then sdwilly's.
