I have a 2.4GHz phone, but out of curiosity, what's the difference between the 2.4GHz and the 900MHz? Simply the range at which you can use it, or are there other benefits?

Panasonic KX-TG2570B, with answering machine works great. I've had it for months now, never any trouble. Furthermore, I didn't need to install a filter on it when I got DSL.

I've owned V-Tech, Sony and Panasonic. Believe it or not, Sony had the worst sound by far in the 900Mhz models. V-Tech was OK for the money, but I love the Panasonic 900MHz TC Series phones. I personally own two of the 2 line caller ID units. Bought one model for my Dad and another for my Mom. They make the same phone with many different variations of multi line, caller ID, answering machines and other options and combinations. Here's their whole line at CordlessGuys.Com.

I owned their top end 2.4GHz unit for a month or so, but didn't like it. It's too small. I don't know how people can stand to use those teeny mobile phones, and I won't use one that size for my main phone. The 900MHz TC series has excellent sound from both sides of the conversation. Nobody will even know you're on a cordless. The range isn't as far as the 2.4GHz, but if you stay in range the sound is perfect. Hey, the price is better too. Buy it at Staples with a coupon for a great deal.

Here's a $10.00 rebate to make it a Hot Deal

Or this $10.00 rebate

I had a 900MHz that was terrible, it was hard to hear anything. I just bought a 2.4GHz Toshiba and everything is clear as a bell like they were in the next room.

The Panasonic one is real good. My friend has one and it is very durable. He threw it at a wall and it did not break!!!

Having owned Panasonic cordless phones for almost 10 years I can highly recommend the Panasonic brand. My first Panasonic cordless phone cost me an arm and a leg ($129) from The Sharper Image but it was so cool, nice design, dual keypads, speakerphone, retractable antenna, good range for a 49MHz cordless, and long talk time. This was around 1990 when I bought that phone and when it died in 1997 (SEVEN YEARS LATER) it still had the original manufacturer's battery in it. I don't have any stories where I threw it against the wall, dropped it 400 times, ran it over or drowned it in the kitchen sink but the phone went through roughly seven years of abuse and several hundred thousand hours of talking.

Anyhow how much do you want to spend on a cordless phone? Do you mind if it has a built-in digital answering machine?

Here's a list of all the Panasonic 2.4GMHz cordless phones, most of them have caller ID, and others have nicer features.

I found the top of the line Panasonic KX-TG2570S for $123.60, this phone normally retails for $199. This price is after rebates, etc.

I'll need to know soon because the coupon expires Monday, 2/19.
