hey everyone,

i saw this on sale somewhere, and i was thinking of buying it. price is good, but the person said that it came from a hardware site that tested vid cards and such and overclocked it. heres the description....

<< Here is a GeForce2 MX reference card that was used in a review at a popular Nvidia fan site. I have been able to get the memory on this card to run rock hard stable at 200 mhz (compared to the default of 166 mhz). This baby outpaces even my GeForce 1 card in all popular games, and includes many features not found on the GF 1 series. >>

hehe, when i went to go copy and paste that qupte i noticed that the price went way higher than what i wanted to pay for it so oh well, but im still curious what the difference is between a reference card and an OEM/Retail.

thanx

The reference car is made by Nvidia and sent to reviewers/manufacturers so they can review/start working on mass producing the thing.

does it make it less stable? is it as good as a retail card is, kind of like OEM?

thanx for the reply

not really OEM, it depends what time this particular reference card was made,... i assume they send out different versions near the end of the R&D process to get the final few kinks out, in general though engineer/review samples are pretty good stuff and sometimes even surpass the final retail product...
