What's a fun game for two PCs connected via ethernet?

Hi, all. I'm looking for a fun game that my fiance and I can play on our home network. I have two PCs sharing files and an internet connection via an ethernet crossover cable. Here are the specs for each:

PC #1:
Celeron 2.86 GHz (Northwood 2.6 @ FSB110)
512MB DDR266
nVidia GeForce2 GTS 32MB

PC #2:
virtual Athlon 64 3300+ (Sempron 64 2800+ @ 2.4GHz)
1GB DDR400
nVidia GeForce MX 420 64MB

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Alpha Centauri, Civ series, Galactic Civ. If you're looking for Coop shooters, you can probably run Serious Sam, or some of the earlier R6 games. I don't know how much performance you can squeeze of the GeForce2 card.

Would help to know what kind of games she's into... most (though not all) women are not really keen on the usual brains splattering all over the place in FPS's. Civ4 is fun if you're not afraid of a fairly lengthy game - even the shortest, fastest game would probably be a few hours. I think it's better with a couple more players, though. And it's going to be tough on the GF2, maybe impossible even. Diablo II is pretty fun and easy to get into, and it's also easy to play for various lengths of time. My wife and I used to play it and had a good time.

Halo is fun, but youd want to start/join a to get more people to go on, then you can both laugh at all the funny people you run into, like the ones you kill, they go "noob" then quit. Man Halo is great. 😀

If you host a game, make it all vehicles on both sides. Hours of fun.

Halo requires a GeForce 3 if I remember right.

Anyways, Quake, Quake 2, Quake 3.
