What's a floating holiday?

My jobs has five or odd number of holidays off + three floating holidays.

What's that? Are they both paid time-off?

Yea, my HR binder doesn't specifically specify...

[edit]
Also, I get two weeks of PTO. Is that really 14 days of PTO or 10 business days and call it two weeks?

1) Free days for you to take when-ever - Essiently extra vacation time
2) The local office has 3 extra days allocated for holidays beyond the standard "government" ones. The local bigshot can determine how to use them.

Example - Day after Thanksgiving.

If Xmass falls on a Tues of Thurs - use the extra dates to extend a weekend.

holidays based on your area. Like when i went to high school, a large portion was Jewish, so we also observed jewish holidays. We had a small-medium black population that observed days like Martin Luther King day and Kwanzaa. Those could be your filler holidays.

So they have to be on or near by a holiday that isn't obviously already taken off by the company?

Or I can just use it anytime (like next wednesday?)

You can use anytime, I get 8, Ive used 4 so far, mostly for days I didn't feel like working (sundays)

Then why dont they call it extra PTO or just add 4 to their existing PTO. WTF?

They do not carry over usually

Some PTO is based on seniority.

The floaters are company policy regardless of seniority.

Some businesses that have clients that pay for services will charge the client for the floaters. The PTO is built into the hourly cost of the flunky
