I'm trying to trade my windows machine for an apple machine .

Specs off the rig are

Q6600 @ 3.2ghz +Tuniq Tower
Abit IP35 Motherboard
4GB DDR2 667 Corsair XMS
XFX 7900GT
WD 160GB SATA HDD
Samsung Sata DVD-RW
Antec Neo 550W Modular PSU
Antec P182.
Windows XP Pro X64 Edition

Also if needed, I have A 22" Acer LCD (1600x1050)
Now, i'd like to say thats a fairly beefy rig, so i'd like a somewhat recent gen mac.

I'd be open to consider macbooks, imacs etc

What kind of machine would be a fair trade?

It really depends on how you're handling the trade. You will probably end up getting a downgrade in hardware. I'd say that while your specs are within Mac Pro territory there's no possible way you'll get one in a trade without paying significant cash on top of it. You might be lucky and get a base model iMac?

I think you might as well part the system, sell them and buy a new Mac from the money - you will get much more in my opinion.

I agree with Parasitic - but that will still probably require some cash from you.

I think the best you could hope for in a trade would be a Mac Mini, honestly. I think you're out of range of a iMac or MacBook unless you're talking first-gen Intel stuff. One thing about the used Mac market is that they hold their value extremely well.
