What's a car that looks fast but actually is pretty slow?

My vote goes to the Hyundai Tiburon.

I see a few of the v6 around and they look like a quick car. The v6 badge also makes it even alittle more intimidating. But if you look at the numbers it's quite slow.

2.0L I4 - 145hp @ 6000 rpm, 138 ft lb @ 4500
2.7L V6 - 173hp @ 6000 rpm, 181 ft lb @ 3800

1/4 mile @ 15.6 sec

V6 mustang, V6 camaro/firebird.
All rice.
low-end beamers and mercs.
MR2, Del Sol.

Lots of little sporty looking things that aren't actually big powerful sportscars.

Nothing wrong with that, most people would never use the performance of a ferrarri and if their sporty looking car puts a smile on their face, then it was well worth it.

qft. 11.6 1/4 is not slow, espicalyl when you've "Only" got 265hp.(blown, bored 2zzfe)

The MR2 is not a drag car anyway. You'd have trouble fitting more than 7 or 7.5" wide or more than 17" diameter rims on a MR2 spyder anyway if memory serves me right so traction would be severely limited anyway.

It's built to do Autox and curvy country roads anyway. 2150lbs 138hp, MR.

Look fast? Those look like the little cars you rub on the floor and then let them go:laugh:

Seconded. The ONLY way the GT-S ones are fast is if you absolutely flog them off the line.

Some other cars:
Late '70s-early 80's pretty much everything. If it didn't look fast, it wasn't. If it did look fast, it wasn't. Save for a few exceptions like the GNX and Countach.
Ferrari 308 and 348

The old Ford Mustang II comes to mind. Man, that thing was a dog!

Civic Del Sol's are a real disappointment. If Honda had put a decent power plant in those things, they might have had an excuse for selling them at the normal Honda atrocious prices. But they didn't. Which likely explains why they're no longer made.
