my friend has the x1300xt and i have no use for my 6800nu. i could enable the extra vertex pipeline but not the pixel pipeline by soft modding it through rivatuner. both cards do not overclock at all. which should my friend use?

The cards are almost equal in performance, or one slightly edges out the other in benchmarks (depends on the game or bench app).

However, if MPEG-2 playback is desired, I recall that MaxPC hated everything ATI from that generation of cards in comparison to nVidia. They even included comparison screenshots in their rag, and I had to agree ATI's pixelation was horrid...

well looking at toms hardware vga chart, it seems like the x1300xt is a noticiibly stronger card. guess ill just take my card back. but then i checked out futuremarks database of cards in the video card forum sticky, and the author shows the 6800NU being slightly better than the x1300xt. wierd.

maybe the pixelation for ati cards for that generation were fixed with subsequent drivers. i never heard of that issue before though.

Don't forget that the X1300 XT is not really a faster X1300 at all. It's just a rename for the X1600 Pro, to keep that going after the X1650 finally was ready; and the Geforce 6600 Vanilla, was always a slow card, including the BFG version called an "OC". which didn't come close to what a standard 6600 GT was capable of (I have had one of each, and the BFG version of the 6600 LOOKED good, with a much more efficient heatsink/ fan assembly than the one used by the patterning version (memory lapse, can't recall the actual name for the Exemplar Cards) of the GT model.
