I'm pretty sure there weren't anywhere close to 1 million 3DO units sold within the first four weeks of launch.
 
XBOX 360 will at least be the 2nd most successful console of the 2005-2008 timeline and so far the sales figures are adding up quite nicely in the favor of the MS camp. A launch doesn't tell us anything, but I really think MS will do just fine.
 
I thought it was sucking in Japan. I'll bet American Mom & Dad aren't too happy MS decided to do a 'worldwide' launch rather than ensure Americans get theirs by Christmas first.

what average american mom or dad is going to know let alone care about how jap gamers wont buy the american made xbox?

Its common knowledge the Japanese will never buy anything american like a american made console. They may not do well in Japan, but the will not tank in the more important markets like the USA, and countries in Europe. The gaming market in Japan is on the decline, while the US is the most important markets followed by England, Germany, then Japan, Korea, then Australia.

My prediction is they will be neck and neck with Sony, with the Xbox 360 doing substaintially better in the US and Europe, while Sony does extremely well in Japan.

look at the ipod, it took till this year for them to pass sony. wtf eh right? sony "mp3" players have sucked ars for the longest time too. thats nationalism for ya.

I don't remember paying $199 for my NES, I thought its was 159 or something close to that.
