<< Who cares?

You can get God's score on a test and still be a dumb-ass, so who cares?
>>

The people handing out scholarships are the ones who care, plus I'd like to see how well I did compared to other people on the board. I was kinda disappointed.

Colleges!! That's the place most of us High School kids are trying to get to :)

Not really if you are a dumb ass then you most probably arn't going to do well on the SAT's.

PSATs are used for getting a lot of scholarships and also as an indicator on how well you'll do on the SATs. The P in PSAT stands for practice, that's what its really meant for.

maximus: PSAT's are an indication about how well you are going to on the SAT's. Sure college's dont care about the PSAT's but it helps us students know where we are in terms of the SAT's.

colleges don't care about psats, but you should, they tell u where u stand for the SAT's...and believe me, SAT's are a good predictor of what u're capable of in college...most ppl say they aren't, but my friend an ivy league pyschology major has read about studies that show good SAT scores correlate to success in college lvl work...
1300 is good enough on ur psats ... if you said that you got <1000, I'd suggest getting more test prep and making sure u get over 1200....
I managed to improve only 40 pts over my psat score :p but then again, I didn't work that hard ...

I had a 1330 back in 1988 -- it was worth $8000 for a corporate National Merit scholarship (over four years), and it enabled me to purchase my first system and then a CD-ROM and laser printer down the road (computer was a 386-33!!).

:)

As AndrewR mentioned, good PSAT and SAT scores can lead to a National Merit Scholarship. In my case, about 28000 dollars over four years.

I got an 1180 last year, but I didn't have a calculator, and I only had one contact in(so I rushed through the reading parts)

Bad memories of the PSAT... Woke up late and was in a rush. Ended up getting a double capuccino and a bagel for breakfast but didn't have time to eat the bagel before the test started. I did drink the entire cappuccino on an empty stomach though, and coupled with the nervousness of taking that test (I was probably one of the only people at my school who realized that test counted for more than just practice) made me feel so sick to my stomach. I managed to finish the test though, got a 130 in spite of it all, and a nice 4-year National Merit Scholarship to boot.

Plus, in my case, it was a very good predictor of both my SAT score (1400) and my success in college (3.7 overall). But I do realize that some people's abilities are not demonstrated best by tests like that. But you should try to do well on it (you CAN study for it by the way) as it can help a LOT when trying to pay for college.

Still waiting for my scores:(, they're so much slower than the SATs for sending your scores back.

I havent gotten them back yet. Hope I do soon.

However, I dont know if my scores will be good. Rushed. No food. No calculator.

Although there was maybe 1 problem that I would have actually used the calculator, still :)

Am I missing something, or did someone with a 750 on the math portion just add 2 numbers wrong? ;)
