What'd you do when you were 16 during the Summer?

Well I am just sitting on my ass wasting away sitting in front of my computer. I had a job but the hours sucked so I quit. (4PM to 2:30 AM @ $8.50 an hour washing dishes at TGI Friday's) I feel like a major bum and I'm wondering if any of you were like this or are right now. I don't plan to be like this next summer, hell no but is this what you did when you were unemployeed? Probably not I presume.

I had a job. I picked strawberries for a farmer. No set hourly wage, got paid by the volume of berries. It was just for a few hours a day. It was a good time.

When I was 17 I worked for a construction company for the summer, building steel buildings.

Slept till 11, ate some cereal, played some video games, messed around on the computer, ate dinner, called friends, went out. Wash, rinse, repeat......

Without a doubt it was the good life....

I started working when I was 16 in the summer. Looks like I'll keep it up until I'm 65 :frown:

When I was sixteen, I just worked outside in my yard all day.

Now that I'm 17, and have graduated HS, I work at Papa Johns. Right now I'm trying to get a job at Gateway Country.

bum! :D

I probably was building computers for my business the summer when I was 16. I owned my own small business the last two years of high school to make money off my skills. I'm 21 now and i still build computers, but I make more money... :)

I spent my weekends surfing at the beach and my weekdays either chilling at Chuck's house or the swim club.
Sometimes I'd stay at the beach the whole week.

It was rough.

I worked 40 hours a week, and slept when I wasn't working. Great way to waste your break from school.

I'd never have lasted at that job because I would have eaten up most of my profits, lol. I love strawberries! :p

I think 16 was the year where I had a brief run as a troublemaker. Hung out with the wrong kids. Got involved w/ the police once and had enough. I didn't work that summer either.

Trained for the fall cross country season, usually lasted from 6:00 AM till about 10:00 AM. That was with running, weight lifting, flirting with the XC girls, and then mandatory basketball games.

I then went back home and slept for a couple hours. Got up around 1:00 PM. Did a couple hours worth of chores around the house, read a book, went for a bike ride, whatever. Then around 6:00PM I went to work till about 10:00. Repeat cycle x 3 months.

I had two summers when I was 16 (summer baby) so lets see here. I was a lazy bum. Going to the beach, hanging out around the house (computer games, that kinda stuff) and hanging out with friends. And here I am 3 years later, doing the same thing. Wow.

I worked at a grocery store as a bagboy. Busted my ass all summer throwing 40-50lb bags of salt pellets.

Worked at a veterinarian's office, went out to bars (Louisiana was still 18 to drink, and no one ever got carded), smoked some stuff, tried to get laid, etc...

Used to play a lot of games, but then towards end of sumemr I got a job, and I skateboarded a lot more. So my summer when I was 16 wasn't a waste, but man when I was like 14 or 15, I definitely spent way too much time on the computer!

My recommendation: Get a job (and a car if you don't), hang out with friends, party, do whatever is fun! :D Save some time for computers, but I would make an effort to get out and have fun. I shouldn't say this, but have fun with drugs or alcohol. IN MODERATION. Don't let it f*ck up your life... DOn't get in trouble either!!

Last year when I was 16 I did nothing at all and it was fun. This year Im 17 and building comps for the summer (8:30 - 6:00). Its an excellent job compaired to my friends in pay and hours but the days are long and I feel like ive wasted my summer away. You sure do earn peoples respect working full time at this age though ill tell ya.
