I'm betting that either he, in a drunken rage, confronted his lazy nephew who unlike him was at least getting laid and the nephew killed him in the struggle. Since the nephew had all of the silverware in his room I'm going to guess that the killing happened with a fork. Or the reverse, he killed the nephew and is currently sitting in jail.
